Unit of Analysis To-Do Activity

Goals:

  • Reflect on the Fall project and determine what is the preferred unit of analysis for a technology comparison in a classroom setting.

Activity Guide:

  1. Consider how you might re-design your fall study with the Unit of Analysis as Classroom rather than student.
    1. How could you get 10 treatment and 10 comparison classes or class sessions?
    2. How could you randomly select the classes to intervene in?
    3. How could you randomly assign treatment to classes?
  2. Consider how you could fully modify your Fall study method to use Student as the Unit of Analysis
    1. How could you randomly select students for your study?
    2. How could you randomly assign students to the Treatment or Comparison group?
