Data Reduction.. sound complex, but you already do it all the time. Make a chart. Write a summary. Calculate an average score for a single student, or for the entire class (reducing all your scores down to 1 score). How do you reduce all the grades and observations you make of each student down to a simple report card sized statement, and then further reduce that down to show others how your class is improving over time?
