A “classic” example of project-based learning is the construction of a model volcano. Many humorous scenes have been written about them exploding at school and at home, including the 4th grade Class Dismissed SW Airlines “wanna get away” commercial. Have you ever completed a design project like this in one of your classes ? What are some of the features of class projects that involve building things, particularly with computer support or completely on the computer (like creating websites or games)? Why might some teachers avoid projects like this?
