Course Requirements/ Grading

25% Six artifacts posted to Taskstream (each worth 4.17 points (approx)):

  1. Fall Practicum Conjecture Map
  2. 508 compliance check (done as part of Assistive/UDL cycle);
  3. Summer video (done this summer with reflection as part of the Multimeida cycle);
  4. Professional Presence (done as part of the Prof Development cycle);
  5. Collaborative (Jigsaw) Ethics statement;
  6. Exemplary post (with reflection).

These assignments are done at your job or as part of the cycles of the course. By the end of the semester you should have these uploaded to Taskstream.  For example, Upload an exemplary post you made to the Challenge Cycle discussion threads this semester. You can cut/paste the text from HuskyCT. Provide a reflection or explanation for why you think this was a worthy contribution to class discussion, and how threaded discussion “worked” for you to support your online learning.

15% Online Cycles Postings and discussion
5% Monthly Sunday Check-ins
15% Personal goals: – documented as personal portfolio and submitted on Taskstream e-portfolio.
5% Self-evaluation – of overall class achievement, effort, knowledge, & skills. (done as part of final exam)
35% Final Exam – in-class short essay questions on course lectures and activities.

Course Objectives

Students should acquire the skills to:

  • Model digital work and learning in the classroom.
  • Identify the instructional affordances of a broad range of contemporary and emerging educational technologies.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with research on the application of learning theories to the strategic integration of instructional technologies into classroom teaching (see TPACK).

And

  • Be able to wisely apply technology to solve classroom and  real-world educational problems.

These course objectives are targeted primarily at ISTE/CAEP standards for technology coaches. These objectives  also comport with ISTE, CAEP  standards for Educators. Standards for students using technology (ISTE student standards) developed by ISTE in collaboration with Apple, NASA and others.
