Complete a 508 compliance check on 1 or more websites you use your teaching, and be sure to check any website you found interesting from class so far, used as part of previous classes at UConn or that you might use for learning on your own.

    1. Put the website URL (cut/paste)  through at least 2 automated checkers and view the results. Read a little about the information the checker provides. Use WAVE first, then try others to contrast the reports they generate. Then reflect on the results in light of allow all students access to your classroom technology-based activities.
      1. WAVE,
      2. Cynthia Says,
      3. other options that take the URL of your webpage and produce a report.
      4. Note: for frequence Google docs users, consider a plug-in like Grackledocs, a “freemium” site with some paywall.
    2. If you want to dig a little deeper into the 508 Compliance reports, here is a Web Content Accessibility Guidelines presentation.

UDL approach to an imaginary online class activity

  1. together (in-person class) we will take up the case of this online States Capitals game. We will do this activity as a whole class
  2. Individually, select an online activity you currently use or plan to try, and apply the same class roster constraints to that lesson. Report your plans/conclusions using the threaded discussion area for UDL/Assistive in HuskyCT.
